Carpenter / Construction Joiner (self-employed)

About the job

As a self-employed carpenter (ZZP, the Dutch term for sole trader / freelancer) based in Groningen, you work independently on a variety of construction projects in the region. The hourly rate is competitive and all projects are local, so travel time is minimal.

What you'll do

• Read and interpret construction drawings
• Install door frames and doors
• Build and repair roof structures and timber constructions
• Work with electric power tools

What we ask

• At least 2 years of experience as a carpenter or construction joiner
• Valid VCA-VOL certificate (VCA is a Dutch safety certification for construction and industrial work; VOL is the full version for independent operators)
• Experience with electric power tools
• Registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK), own business
• Valid BTW (VAT) number and a declaration that your tax obligations are up to date
• Valid business liability insurance (Bedrijfsaansprakelijkheidsverzekering)
• Own transport and own tools
• VCA certificate, or willingness to obtain one
• vmbo or mbo level education (Dutch secondary or vocational education)
• Ability to read construction drawings accurately
• Independent and professional attitude

• Hourly rate: €40.00 - €45.00
• Weekly payment on submitted invoices
