Winter Road Maintenance Driver

About the job

As a winter road maintenance driver, you help keep roads safe in the municipality of Valkenburg aan de Geul. You operate gritting and snowplough equipment and follow set routes, both as a preventive measure and in response to incidents. The job asks for flexibility, independence, and a responsible attitude, especially during irregular hours.

What you'll do

• Drive and operate gritting and snowplough equipment during winter road maintenance
• Carry out preventive and responsive gritting according to set routes
• Take part in an on-call rota: every two weeks you are available outside regular working hours
• Respond quickly when slippery conditions are expected or occurring, with a maximum travel time of 30 minutes to your starting point
• Keep clear communication with colleagues and the planning department

On-call details: the on-call shift runs every two weeks, from Monday 07:30 to the following Monday 07:30. During this period you are available outside regular hours (Monday to Thursday 07:30-16:00, Friday 07:30-11:30), including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

What we ask

• Driving licence category C, C1 and/or T
• Experience driving heavy vehicles
• Willingness to work according to the on-call rota
• Home address within 30 minutes of Valkenburg
• Knowledge of winter road maintenance is a plus

What we offer

• Hourly rate of €22.95 gross, based on scale 5 of the CAO (CAO: collective labour agreement) for municipalities
• Fixed-term contract from 1 November 2026 to 31 March 2027
• Working week of up to 40 hours, part-time possible
• Vakantiegeld (vakantiegeld: holiday pay) of 8% and 27 days of leave per year based on full-time employment
• Option to buy 40 extra leave hours per year
