Chemical Operator / Production Worker
Location: Schiedam, Zuid-Holland
**About the job**
As an Operator, you work at the heart of the production process. In chemical baths, you give various base materials the right pre-treatment. Without your feel for proper cleaning and surface roughness, the paint shop cannot coat the anodes effectively later on. Quality always comes first for you.
**What you'll do**
- Run the line and check quality. You operate machines for cleaning, pickling and electroplating. You monitor process parameters and spot-check whether the metal has the right roughness for good adhesion further down the line.
- Load racks (dry side). You hang plates, bars and pipes on large production racks by hand, in a logical and considered way, to make the best use of capacity and batch efficiency.
- Maintain and improve. You keep the line tidy (following the 5S standard), carry out minor first-line repairs and give hands-on support when a new pickling line is started up.
**What's in it for you**
- Early finish on Friday. Monday to Thursday you work 8.5 hours, so on Friday you finish at 11:45.
- Pay. Depending on experience: €3,002 to €3,889 gross per month (€38,906 to €50,401 gross per year, including 8% vakantiegeld, the Dutch statutory holiday allowance, based on a 38-hour week).
- Bonus. Annual performance bonus of 0–4%.
- Holiday. 25 days per year.
- Pension. A company pension plan.
- Extras. Monthly sport allowance (€15) and a travel allowance (€0.23 per km, up to 75 km one way).
**What we ask**
We look at attitude first, skills second.
- Technical feel. You like working with your hands, you have a feel for industrial or chemical processes, and you take measurements carefully.
- Proactive attitude. You see what needs to be done without being told. When the line is running, you tackle small repairs or cleaning on your own initiative.
- Team player. You are calm, reliable and easy to communicate with. You bring positive energy and you are happy to learn from colleagues who have worked here for 20 years.
- Education and experience. A technical secondary school diploma (Vmbo Techniek) or Operator A/B qualification (Vapro), and/or experience in a production environment (metal, chemistry or surface treatment). Safety is essential: you work with chemicals and always follow personal protective equipment rules strictly. You speak Dutch and understand English. A VCA certificate (Dutch safety certificate for working with hazardous substances) and a forklift licence are a plus.
