Structural Metal Worker (steel structures)

Amsterdam
€14,99 – €18,50 /hrFull-timeEnglish

About the job

In this role you turn technical drawings into solid, precise steel structures. You file, cut, shape, bend, drill and weld parts into complete structures that are then assembled on site.

You make sure the work in the workshop is done right. Because of your skill, the fitters working on site can start well prepared. Every project is completed carefully, safely and as agreed.

What you'll do

  • Assemble and weld steel structures based on technical drawings.
  • Work metal: cutting, shaping, bending and drilling.
  • MIG/MAG welding of parts and structures.
  • Check parts for dimensions, quality and finish.
  • Carefully finish assembled structures.
  • Operate lifting and transport equipment, such as an overhead crane.
  • Move parts safely and efficiently through the workshop.
  • Prepare structures for assembly on site.
  • Work together with colleagues in the workshop and in the field.
  • Help find good ways to carry out custom projects.
  • Keep the workplace safe, clean and tidy.

You do not work on standard products. Every project is custom-made and requires technical understanding, precision and a practical approach to problem-solving.

Employment conditions

This position offers stability, variety and the satisfaction of seeing results you can be proud of. You work in a committed team at a family business with more than 65 years of experience in the steel and metal industry.

What you get

  • Full time: 39 hours per week.
  • Salary from 2,450 to 3,200 euro gross per month, depending on experience.
  • Possibility of a permanent contract.
  • 25 days of holiday leave.
  • 7 ADV days (ADV is a Dutch scheme for reduced working hours, giving you extra days off).
  • Every Friday you finish 1 hour earlier.
  • Travel cost reimbursement.
  • Bicycle plan.
  • Training and course opportunities.
  • A committed team with a friendly atmosphere.
  • A culture based on trust, cooperation and craftsmanship.
  • Team events, company celebrations, group activities and gifts.

You have the space to do good work and keep developing. The steel structures you build are later visible in real buildings and projects.

What we ask

We are looking for a structural metal worker who works independently but is happy to be part of a team. You have experience with metal, you can read technical drawings, and you know how important dimensions and finish are.

Requirements

  • A vocational qualification in a metal trade, or comparable practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a structural metal worker or welder.
  • Experience with MIG/MAG welding.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • A qualification as a structural metal worker or in a related field is a plus.
  • VCA certificate (a Dutch health and safety certificate for construction and industry), or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A team attitude and willingness to help colleagues.
  • A positive approach and careful way of working.
  • A focus on safe working and finding solutions.

A diploma is welcome, but experience and skill matter most. If you have been working with steel for years and know how to deliver quality, this job is for you.
